Celebrate the timeless elegance of Black and White Figurative Art with The Model (1965), a striking semi-abstract painting by Antionette Simmons Hodges. Created during her college years, this artwork portrays a stylized, elongated female nude figure seated in a chair, rendered in shades of black, white, and gray. This piece is a stunning example of Black and White Figurative Art, showcasing Hodges’ early exploration of form and movement.
The angular, geometric shapes outlining the figure and chair give this Black and White Figurative Art piece a bold, modern expressionistic style. Through thick, gestural brushstrokes, Hodges captures the energy and movement of the human form, making this artwork a true standout in the realm of Black and White Figurative Art.
Hodges chose to paint the model using shades of black and gray to reflect the pale skin tone of the live model posing for her art class—one of her first opportunities to paint from life. This decision adds depth and meaning to this Black and White Figurative Art piece, emphasizing the simplicity and elegance of the human figure.
Perfect for collectors of Black and White Figurative Art, this Giclée print is produced on archival-quality paper with fade-resistant inks, ensuring exceptional quality and durability. Its muted tones and dynamic brushwork make it a timeless addition to any contemporary living space or gallery wall.

Canvas & Materials
Our framed stretched canvas prints combine fine art quality with a refined, gallery-style presentation. Each piece is printed on thick, archival-grade poly-cotton canvas that is pH-neutral and acid-free, preserving the artwork’s vibrancy and preventing yellowing over time. Using giclée printing technology, the colors are rich, true-to-life, and protected with a durable, semi-gloss coating to resist scratches, smudges, and fingerprints.
The canvas is expertly stretched over solid, warp-resistant wood stretcher bars and framed in a sleek, professional-grade frame. A black backboard and wire hanger are installed on the reverse, making the piece ready to hang immediately upon arrival.
Framing
This premium fine art option features a thick, archival-grad polycotton blend canvas, carefully hand-stretched over 0.75" deep wooden bars for lasting durability and museum-quality presentation. The artwork is then mounted in a modern float frame, leaving a subtle ¼" gap between the canvas and the frame’s edge to create a sleek, “floating” effect.
Each piece is professionally finished with a black backing, protective wall bumpers, and a wire hanger—arriving ready to hang.
Frame Color Options: Black, White, Gold, or Silver
Canvas Depth: 0.75"
Style: Modern float frame with a clean, gallery-ready finish
Care Instructions
To ensure the long-lasting quality of your framed stretched canvas print:
- Display indoors, away from direct sunlight, excessive humidity, air pollutants (like smoke), or extreme temperatures. These conditions may cause fading, warping, or mold over time.
- Dust regularly using a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using water, cleaning sprays, or abrasive materials, as they may damage the printed surface.
- Lighting may affect appearance: Colors may look different under various lighting conditions. Our prints are calibrated for D50 (5000K daylight) viewing.
- For minor imperfections, small nicks can often be touched up with waterproof felt-tip markers or artist-grade touch-up paint.
By following these guidelines, your canvas print will retain its beauty and vibrancy for years to come.
