"Pool Hall" is the Black billiards art print that honors one of the great gathering places of African American community life—a pool hall where men come not just to play but to talk, to teach, to pass time in the particular way that only works when you are surrounded by people who know you. Antionette Simmons Hodges paints this scene with the vivid greens and yellows of a well-lit table and the warm energy of a space where community happens organically, around a shared game.
The pool hall has served a specific function in Black American communities for over a century: a space of male sociality that was theirs, where skill and strategy and conversation created the kind of bonds that sustain communities over time. Hodges understands this history and honors it without reducing the scene to nostalgia or sociology. These men are simply here, playing, talking, existing in the easy company of each other, and the painting honors the ordinary dignity of that fact. The bold palette—the green of the felt, the yellows and reds of the balls, the warm light of the room—gives the scene a vibrancy that makes you want to pull up a chair.
Hang "Pool Hall" in a man cave, game room, home bar, or living room where Black male community and culture should be honored. A meaningful gift for pool players, sports enthusiasts, and anyone who understands the social role these spaces have played in African American community life.

Each print is produced using archival giclée ink, a pigment-based ink system known for its superior longevity, depth, and color accuracy.
Our stretched canvas prints are made with thick, archival-grade polyester canvas that is pH-neutral and acid-free—designed to resist yellowing over time. The canvas is hand-stretched over solid, warp-resistant wood stretcher bars with rounded, beveled edges. A pre-installed sawtooth hanger on the back ensures your artwork is ready to hang right out of the box.
Our framed stretched canvas prints combine fine art quality with a refined, gallery-style presentation.
