Art Is Power Vol. I — Nina Simone Collector Tee
Original artwork by Antionette Simmons Hodges. Designed for collectors, art lovers, and those who believe art belongs beyond the gallery wall.
About the Artwork
"An artist's duty, as far as I'm concerned, is to reflect the times." Nina Simone said that in 1968, and she lived it without compromise — in protest songs that got her blacklisted, in performances that refused to separate art from politics, in a life that chose integrity over comfort every single time. She gave up mainstream success to tell the truth. That is a rare and radical thing.
Antionette Simmons Hodges painted her with expressive fine art brushwork — a portrait that captures the gravity of someone who understood exactly what they were doing and did it anyway. The High Priestess of Soul on heavyweight cotton. Not a graphic print. A painted portrait, translated to fabric.
Printed in rich matte DTG ink on heavyweight 6 oz Airlume combed ring-spun cotton. The print feels embedded, not applied. The garment feels premium because it is.
Available in: Black · Dark Grey · Navy

About This Design
Nina Simone Tribute Tee Nina Simone said it herself: "An artist's duty, as far as I'm concerned, is to reflect the times." She spent her life doing exactly that — from the concert halls of Carnegie to the front lines of the civil rights movement, she refused to separate her art from her politics or her Blackness from her genius. Pianist, vocalist, composer, activist. Antionette Simmons Hodges painted her not as an icon frozen in time but as a woman alive in her power — brushstrokes bold and warm, presence undeniable. This tee is for everyone who has ever played Feeling Good and felt it in their chest.

DTG-printed garments need a little extra care to keep the artwork looking sharp for years.
- Wash inside out — always
- Cold water only — warm and hot water fade DTG prints
- Gentle or delicate cycle
- No bleach or fabric softener — both degrade the ink
- Tumble dry low, or hang to dry for best results
- Do not iron directly on the print
- Do not dry clean
Treated well, your print will hold its depth and detail wash after wash.
